Jagannath University abolishes MCQs from all exams
Jagannath University has decided to abolish the MCQ system from all levels of examination including admission test.
The decision was made in a syndicate meeting on Thursday, according to a press release on Friday.
After the decision to reduce MCQ or multiple-choice questions at primary level from primary to higher secondary level, as part of a number of efforts to prevent inquiries and fraud, the same decision came from any university first.
The press release said, "To improve the quality of the examination of the University, MCQ will be removed from all types of tests. Which will be effective from the next academic year. "
At present, most of the institutions of higher education in the country are admitted to the MCQ question admission test.
The students of Jagannath University have had to answer 75 multiple-choice questions last year. On the basis of SSC results from 12 and HSC scores out of 16 scores, according to the calculation of the number, merit list was created based on the number 100.
Besides, teachers could also ask MCQ for mid-term and class tests, which can not be done anymore.
In this method, there are four alternate answers to the question paper for each question. The correct answer is to select the mark.
But if the question is leaked shortly before the exam, there is a chance to easily answer many election questions. In addition, in the last few years, several instances of admission tests of different institutions including Jagannath University have been detected by special devices outside of the examination hall, to know MCQ answers.
The MCQ question was introduced in SSC in Bangladesh in 1992. There were a total of 50 multiple election questions to be answered; Allocated for each was number 1.
The government has been reducing the number of MCQs in the SSC and HSC exams to prevent the leak of the question after running the system for a long time. And from now on, the students of the fifth grade will be examined in the initial closing of 100 percent qualification based or creative questions.
Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Meizanur Rahman told bdnews24.com, "Wherever MCQ remains, there is a scope for fraud, which can be avoided in written exams."
"Moreover, merit is not verified through MCQ. We want to learn from the syllabus of the higher secondary syllabus, depending on the students will be admitted to the university. "
Jagannath University syndicate has been banned by teachers, notes, guides or lecture sheets in addition to the MCQ being lifted.
It is said in the press release that teachers will be given a 'world-class text book' for each course that will be available in the market at affordable prices.
They can use multiple reference books if needed. But in any case, teachers can not take notes, guides or lecture sheets in the class.
