Necessary Activities to Change the Operator by Keeping the Number Same

Those who did not want to change the number but change the operators called 'mobile number portability' or MNP service in Bangladesh has started with the end of their waiting.

To change the operators, the subscriber will have to pay a sum of Tk 158 along with a SIM Replacement Tax and VAT along with a refund of Tk 50.

Bangladesh and Slovenia Consortium Infoselion BD-Teletek, licensed in November, have been working 'Number Portability Clearing House' for this service.

The company has said that since the customer operator is changing, he has to get the new operator SIM.

>> Customers who want to go to the operator will go to the Customer Care Center. The old operator will have to deal with the SIM.

>> If you tell us about MNP services in customer service center, then contacting the old operators online will request the porting (request from one operator to another operator).

>> If the old operator clears the number portability clearing house number will be porting.

>> The whole thing will be online. With the introduction of electronic registration, the operator will not have to show photographs and national ID cards to change operators. If the fingerprint is mixed, its information will be transferred from one operator to the other operator.

>> A customer will take 5 minutes to get new SIM. But the SIM will take maximum 72 hours to activate.

>> Post-paid subscriber cannot change operators without having to pay the old operator if he owes it.

>> Prepaid subscriber cannot go to new operator post-paid or post-paid customer prepaid.

>> The unused balance or data will not be transferred to the new operator in the new operator. The BTRC, however, advised going to MNP only after finishing the balance.

>> To change the operator again, the customer has to wait 90 days.

BTRC acting chairman Zahurul Haque announced the start of MNP service at a press conference on Monday.

Lt. Colonel Azizur Rahman Siddiqui, Director of BTRC System and Service Department, said in response to the queries of the journalists, if there is no unused balance in the previous operator, then it has been prescribed for two years in the old operators.

If someone goes back to the previous operator within two years, then he can use that balance. Otherwise, it will be discussed with the Bangladesh Bank about taking the government treasury.

As of BTRC, up to August, the total number of subscribers of four mobile phone operators in the country is 15.44 million and 79 thousand.

Grameenphone has topped the list with 7.77 million subscribers. They are followed by Robi, their subscriber number is 44.66 million, 32 thousand. Banglalink subscriber 3 crores 34 lakh 66 thousand and state-owned operator Teletalk subscriber number 38 million 73 thousand.

Currently, MNP services are operational in 72 countries around the world. Neighboring country India since 2011 and Pakistan has been providing MNP services since 2007.
